In Tri County Technology Center's Culinary Arts Program, students are trained under an instructor who is a certified chef. The Culinary Arts students learn by preparing meals daily for the public in a commercial kitchen, in addition to catering breakfasts, lunches and special events. Students rotate through the following stations of a commercial kitchen: *Bakery/Pastry *Stewarding *Dinner/Fry Restaurant *Salad/Pantry *Sous Chef.
The program is open to High School and Adult students with new classes beginning each fall. Classes run August through May/June. Adults students may enroll on a competitive basis at each quarter or semester, if openings are available. Applications are accepted year-round.
The culinary arts field offers a wide range of career options from bakers to short-order cooks to full chefs. The following is a list of career paths available in this industry: Cook's Assistant, Soup and Vegetable Cook, Short Order Cook, Dinner and Fry Cook, Baker Second, Pastry Cook, Baker, Salad Maker, Sandwich Maker, Salad and Pantry Cook, and Chef. |
