October Students of the Month

Tri County Technology Center students Renda Brown and Pam Newton have been selected as the Downtown Kiwanis Club October Students of the Month.

High School Student

   

                    Renda Brown

 

  • Senior in Health Science Technology and at Dewey High School
  • According to her instructor, Michelle Gomez, Renda is very mature, works as a CNA and lives alone without any parents. 
  • Her goals are to become more disciplined in her spiritual walk, bring sales up at Jared’s Frozen Custard, advance her position at Tall Grass Estates and to graduate at the top  of her class.
  • Plans to attend Oklahoma Wesleyan University and major in Science Education or the RN program and play volleyball.  Her long-term goals are to become a missionary, as a teacher, or nurse and someday work for TCTC.
  • Health Occupations Student Association secretary, Chairman of the communications committee
  • Student ambassador
  • Really involved with her church, Sooner Park Wesleyan and participated in Breast Cancer, OWU 5K and Red Cross blood drives.  She also volunteers opportunities with the local Girl Scout Chapter and Voice of Martyrs, Secretary of Key Club at Dewey High School

                   Pam Newton

 

  • Dental Assisting
  • According to her instructor, June Lee, Pam has been a valuable asset to our class. The younger students have gone to her for advice and help with school work.
  • Her goals are to become more stable financially, save for retirement and fund medical mission trip and to learn Spanish.  Professionally her goals are to work as a dental assistant/certification with expanded functions in view, Lobby for legislation requiring all DA.’s to be certified.  Also considering OU Dental Hygiene program.
  • Dental Assistant class secretary for Health Occupations Student Association
  • Bachelor’s degree in music and art from Abilene Christian University, Studio Potter for 10 years
  • Volunteer for Cornerstone Hospice, conducted a small orchestra and choir of home schooled children, judged artistic entries for Nowata County Fair, assisted with clothing program at Central Church of Christ in Nowata.
