Precision Machining Operations (PMO)

Machinists are skilled workers who make or modify machined metal, plastic parts or wood products with machine tools. Students learn the basics of setting up and operating all the machine tools, as well as reading blueprints and using all of the common metal working hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Key components of the Precision Machining course include instruction in the properties and heat treatment of the different metals to be machined. To be work ready, students are trained to program and operate computer numeric controlled (CNC) machines. These high wage, high skill jobs can be found at many local companies throughout the region.
How To Enroll The program is open to High School and Adult Students with new classes beginning each Fall. Classes run August through May/June. Applications are accepted year-round. Employment Opportunities:
