1. Check to see if you qualify for the program.
2. Discuss with your home school counselor what classes you could
take through advanced academics.
3. Get enrollment form from home school counselor, TCTC counselor, or
print one from the forms page.
4. Fill out the enrollment form. A counselor will be willing to help you if
you need help. You will need to get signatures from your parents or
guardian, your school principal and your school counselor.
5. Bring the form to TCTC or have your school counselor give it to TCTC’s
counselor.
6. TCTC will enroll you in the program.
7. After you have been enrolled you will receive a confirmation email from
advanced academics welcoming you along with a password and user ID.
8. You will also receive a welcome letter from Mr. Baker at TCTC with
important information for you.
9. You are now ready to begin your class.
Go to www.advancedacademics.net and click on student Login in
the top right hand corner and begin. This is also the page your parent’s can go to get a progress report on how you are doing in the class.
10. You will have no more that 120 days to complete your course.
For the exact number of days talk to Mr. Baker.
11. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays you will have one hour to work
on your course, except for Marketing students who will work on their
course on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. More time will be
given if it is approved by your program instructor.
12. It is recommended that you work on your course at home. You can
get in your course anywhere there is a computer and internet access.
13. Work at your own pace, but remember you will have no more than
120 days to complete the course.
14. Talk to your instructor when you are having difficulties. You can call,
email, or use instant messaging to talk to your instructor or an
assistant. Those students who talk to their instructor have a better
chance of understanding the material and making a better grade in
the class.
15. Your progress will be monitored by Mr. Baker at TCTC and advanced
academics. If you don’t log on every 72 hours, somebody from
advanced academics will call your day phone to check up on your
progress. You will also be called if you are failing the class and are
not showing any progress in the course.
16. Mr. Baker will also mail a progress report to your parents or
guardians to keep them abreast of your progress in the course.
17. All mid-term and final exams must be taken in Lab 3 of the BCT
Computer Lab. If you take one of these tests anywhere else, it will be
zeroed out and you will have to retake the test with a separate set of
questions.
18. Once you have clicked to take a test you must finish it. If you get out
of it before you are finished you will receive a zero for all the
questions that you didn’t answer which will result in a failing grade.
Your instructor might reset the test depending on the circumstances.
Before you start a test, make sure you have given yourself enough
time to finish it. Give yourself at least one hour for each test.
19. You have completed the course once you have completed all the
assignments and tests, or the 120 days expire. Use the course
outline to make sure you have completed all the assignments in all
the chapters.
20. Once you have completed the course, your instructor will send you an
email letting you know you have successfully completed the course.
You are finished. You will be given credit for your school work.
